All competitors check in at the contest tent. Morning coffee goes heavy.

The Arena

Jones Beach provides the natural amphitheatre for the tag team format, with clean spectator sightlines, a simple check-in footprint, and quick access to fallback beaches under the same event call.

Arrive early for shoreline parking and allow extra time after sunrise.

Transport and access

Families driving from Kiama township or BIG4 Easts Beach Holiday Park should allow around 10 minutes by car to Jones Beach. Use North Kiama Drive for contest access and follow event signage for competitor drop-off and parking.

Event Snapshot

The South Coast Cup is back for 2026, bringing the premier Tag Team surfing format to the coast. Clubs from Bondi to the Southern Border come south for club pride, strategy, and pressure tags in front of a packed shoreline.

The Weekend Plan

Friday Arrival

Arrive in Kiama. Visit Zink Surf for gear, dinner and drinks at The Grand, then settle in at BIG4 Easts Beach Holiday Park.

Saturday Competition

First heat at 7:30am, finals wrap by approx. 4pm. 50-minute tag team heats at Jones Beach.

03

Presentation + Social

Trophies, live music, and afterparty at Kiama Golf Club from approx. 5pm to 8pm.

How it works

Format & Rules

Team Roster

6-surfer tag team format with 50-minute heats. Each team must include:

1 Junior Boy (U/20, must not turn 20 in 2026)

1 Junior Girl (U/20, must not turn 20 in 2026)

1 Open Woman

2 Open Men

1 Master (40+, must have turned 40 by 2025)

Surfing Order

Female surfers must surf 3rd and 4th. Clubs choose which female goes in which position. Remaining order is up to the team.

Scoring

Unlimited waves allowed. Best wave from each surfer counts toward team total.

All six surfers must return to the box within 50 minutes.

Interference: Any surfer who interferes with another competitor has their scoring wave recorded as 0.

Tie-break: Highest scoring wave splits ties. If still tied, goes to second highest and so on.

Bonus Points

Teams must have all 6 surfers complete waves and return to the box within 50 minutes to be eligible.
